Farewell! Sadly, Next Wave Festival 2010 is over. I’ll now be adding new work to my website Shea Bresnehan Photography and blog Wandering Off The island. Thank you to Next Wave Festival, artists, volunteers and crew.

Next Wave Festival week two highlights.

Fun Run created quite a stir in the middle of melbourne city yesterday. Artist Tristan Meecham performed a 42km marathon - on a treadmill - as “HUMPS”, a fake-tanned runner, looking hot in orange lycra shorts and sparkly nipple covers (to prevent jogger’s nipple.) Hugo ran with swagger and style, while gymnasts and dancers entertained the captivated, if confused, crowd.

Venzha Christ, Irene Agrivina and Andreas Siagian from The House of Natural Fiber (HONF), an artist collective based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, facilitated a new media workshop at the festival club on Thursday. House of Natural Fiber is a space to share and grow ideas in the field of new media art and wider society. To learn more, see the Next Wave Festival program, or the House of Natural Fiber website.

Amazing volunteer dancers, all part of “I thought a musical was being made.”

The notorious Black Lung Theatre and Whaling Firm open the doors to their Arts House, Meat Market Residency every few days during Next Wave Festival. There are so many reasons to be brave and go along, one of which is just to watch fellow audience member’s facial expressions…

Jess Olivieri and Hayley Forward with the Parachutes for Ladies performed the preview of “I thought a musical was being made” on Sunday. I absolutely recommend this performance. I can’t explain it without spoiling it - just check it out. Parachutes For Ladies.

Yesterday I noisily disturbed the concentration of a group of writers by interrupting Text Camp: Creative Responses to Creative Works, a workshop facilitated by Nicholas Law as part of Next Wave Festival.
